Who We Are

The Dominica Calypso Association is the official body responsible for the development, preservation, and promotion of Calypso in Dominica. We serve artists, audiences, cultural institutions, and the wider Dominican community.

Our Story and Purpose

For over five decades, the DCA has served as a guardian of Dominican calypso, supporting artists, preserving traditions, and sustaining a nationally important cultural legacy. From the early chantwells to today’s Monarchs, Calypso has been the voice of the people — a mirror of society, a defender of truth, and a celebration of Dominican resilience.

The Dominica Calypso Association was established to bring structure, fairness, and continuity to this powerful tradition. Over the decades, the DCA has guided the evolution of competitions, supported artists, and preserved the stories that define us.

Today, we continue this legacy through structured seasons, youth development programs, cultural documentation, and the ongoing expansion of the Calypso House — the home of Dominican Calypso
